This past week has been quite busy, fun, inspiring, and everything else good.
It started with being able to attend [re] Think: Hawaii thanks to Neenz and Christine Lu, hanging with the always intriguing Chris Pirillo, helping organize the first TEDx in Hawaii: TEDxHonolulu (Neenz is Curator, Christine Lu the Connector), recording my new show thanks to producer Aric S Queen, and just picking up my mom, who flew in from Vegas this morning.
My answer was 4 hours. It may not be consecutive sleep, but may include a series of naps intertwined.
What about you?
What is the least amount of sleep you’ve gotten in a 24 hour period?
~ Happy Aloha Friday! ~
Back in art school – I worked two jobs and went without any sleep at all for over 3-days in a row. I started to hallucinate little things. For example: Out of the corner of my eye – I saw a wall of boxes that I was standing next to falling over, so I jumped out of the way to avoid getting crushed. (It wasn’t really falling)
Another time I worked two full-time jobs.
First Job – (10-Hour graveyard shift) Starts at 9:00 at night to 7:00 am
Ride bike to next job.
Second Job – Start at 8:30 in the morning to 5:30 at night
3 & 1/2 Hour break.
Back to the First job.
Rinse & Repeat.
I could either eat or sleep during lunch but not enough time for both. (It was a tough choice)
Sometimes I would pass-out in a park during my break between jobs instead of going home to sleep because it saved a lot of travel-time. However – Not going home = No shower, shave or change of clothes.
I lived like that for almost two years. That sort of thing would kill me now. I wouldn’t last two weeks.
OMG, Dave!!!
LOL re: Passing out in the park.
Yeah, amazing what we can put our bodies through huh?
That deserves my Holy Moses! award. Heh.
Cheers to sleep and lots of it!
Hey Traci, Aloha Smile Hono, styl’in’ … Glad you had fun with the conference. Def gotta re-charge the Li-ion-Guci-Toguchi batts, heh, lol …
When caught in a “mosh”, I have gone 24 hours w/ out sleep. Not recommended since causes hula hallucinations, walking into walls and other strangeness behavoirs. But sometime “shift-happens” Seems whenever I burn candle at both or three ends, I pay the price for recovery which takes a few days to become relaxed and unglued. Funny you mention sleep train sagas. I recently discovered a leak in ol’ H2O waterbed, ha! Despite the scuba gear, wet suit ‘n’ fins, it’s been funk’in with me sleepin’ habits, so soggy… groggy…moo-oggy…
25 or 6 to 4 – Chicago
Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Dancing lights againnst the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or 6 to 4
Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should have tried to do some more
25 or 6 to 4
Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
25 or 6 to 4
25 or 6 to 4
Where’s the third end of the candle???
Good question Ms. Traci!
That would be when ya got the candle burn’in at both ends and then… then ya have to take to the next ninja level and hot flame cuts candle in half creating two burning candles burning at both ends, lol.
I wager it’s some sort of multi-tasking nightmare in action complete with adrenaline surges and rushes to succeed and reach perceived what may have appeared unreachable goals. In the end, hopefully, fingers-crossed, reaching or exceeding the time constrained goal to live and fight yet another day! Whooo’ra…
That’s the theory anyway, hahaha!
Since I’m responding here on Nov 9th. They say Nov 9th is Traci Toguchi’s Birthday! Scorpio Grrrl !
